Read This Before You List

5 MISTAKES THAT
KILL NEW SELLERS

These are the exact mistakes that cause 80% of new shops to make zero sales in month one.

MISTAKE 01
Pricing on filament cost only
You spend €2 on filament and charge €5. After Etsy fees (40%), electricity, machine wear, packaging, and your time you made €0.20 and spent 2 hours. You are working for less than minimum wage.
✅ Fix: Use the calculator above. Price at 5× real cost minimum. If it feels too expensive it is probably correct.
MISTAKE 02
Using renders instead of real photos
Etsy's 2025 Creativity Standards require real photos of the physical item. Shops using renders or stock images are getting flagged. Real photos also convert 3× better than renders.
✅ Fix: Print the product. Photograph it in natural light. Hold it in your hand for one photo. Takes 20 minutes. Converts infinitely better.
MISTAKE 03
Selling licensed characters
Pokemon, Disney, Marvel, Warhammer selling prints of licensed characters is trademark infringement even if you designed it from scratch. Games Workshop has a dedicated legal team searching Etsy. One DMCA notice can delete your entire shop including all reviews.
✅ Fix: Original designs only. If you use a licensed STL file from Hive by Cubee, that is covered. Anything else design it yourself.
MISTAKE 04
Not drying filament before printing
PETG absorbs moisture from the air within 24 hours of opening. Wet filament causes bubbling, stringing, and failed prints that look like settings errors. Most sellers spend hours adjusting settings when the real fix costs €15 and 4 hours in a food dehydrator.
✅ Fix: Dry PETG for 4–6 hours at 65°C in a food dehydrator before printing. Store in vacuum bags with silica gel.
MISTAKE 05
Listing everything instead of one thing
New sellers list 20 different products hoping something sticks. Etsy's algorithm rewards shops with consistent niche focus. A shop with 5 listings in one niche outranks a shop with 50 listings in 10 different categories.
✅ Fix: Pick one product. Get 10 reviews on it. Then add one more product in the same niche. Build depth, not width.
